Congratulations to Little Miss Muffet, by Tantrum Solutions, who was voted into our Readers’ Choice Best 10 Kids Apps for 2011! After using this app I can see why so many of our readers voted for this highly interactive app for preschoolers.

Little Miss Muffet is so action packed it is sure to entertain your child for hours. Though this app was designed for preschoolers, children of all ages (including those over 30!) will find themselves immersed in no time.

The app was designed with preschoolers as the target audience so the interface is very simple and easy to use. All narration is done by children; even though it is done with a slight British accent, it is still very easy to understand. Bright, vibrant colors and graphics, and tons of interactive objects help make this a five-star app. There are so many things to touch and do; with many surprise outcomes.

Two songs besides Little Miss Muffet can be found in the app; Baa, Baa, Black Sheep and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star wasn’t as obvious as the other two.

Another item that really sets this app apart from other apps for kids is the care and precautions the developer has taken to assure that children cannot access links or menus. The only menu button on the screen, at any time throughout the app, is a very small, plain, “i” in the lower left corner of the screen; you almost don’t see it. If the button is pressed, the next screen contains a unique precaution that I have not seen in any other app. You must trace the circle precisely and in a set amount of time before you are taken to the next screen.

Little Miss Muffet is a premium interactive game for preschoolers. It features 3 songs and a great number of mini games in 5 scenes packed with educational content and animations. Almost all of the objects in the scenes are animated and interactive. Sing along to “Little Miss Muffet”, “Baa, Baa, Black Sheep” and “Twinkle, Twinkle little star”, all sang by children, and learn counting, spelling, new words, animal sounds and cause & effect, with lots of fun for preschoolers from age 2 onwards. Discover little peekaboo moments that will drive your child to learn numbers by repeating counting games. Special care is taken to make the game’s interface extremely simple and avoid adding options and menus that would catch your child’s attention and diminish the educational quality of the game. When in the game the iPad becomes the game, no menus or links are reachable by children. The game consists of 5 scenes, one for each verse plus a fifth with the whole song animated in entirety.
