The game is set up in a series of missions that the player has to work through in order to unlock more missions. The app allows for three different players to be registered, so that each child can keep track of their own progress. The player can choose to practice addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, or a combination of these. Once the type of practice has been chosen, the player answers facts as quickly as possible. If enough facts are answered correctly within the given time, the player moves on to the next mission. The app also offers a “training” mode, which allows the player to select operations to practice and keeps track of the best score they achieve.
In addition to giving plenty of math practice, the game also includes a small blurb with each mission that gives a little information about the place where it is take place, which nicely works in a bit of geography knowledge. Overall, the app has a clean, easy to use interface, but incorporates enough graphics to be visually interesting. The game is simple, but the spy theme gives it an appealing edge, especially for older kids. The only downside to the app is that the missions are fairly repetitive, but that is pretty common for any math practice game. However, there are an abundance of game levels available, so any child who wants to complete all the missions will have plenty to keep them busy!
Operation Math includes links to other games from the developer, but has no social media links or in-app purchases.
