Advent calendars are excitement and anticipation builders around the holidays. This one, Star Wars themed, features 24 compartments for the 24 days leading up to Christmas. Ergo, there are 24 surprises, all Star Wars themed and holiday related. On Christmas, kiddos have 24 presents to build miniature Star Wars cities.
Minecraft is a ginormous deal right now. Little lads love a good building session with Steve, the ultimate Minecraft dude (there from the beginning). This setup is an 8-in-1 that allows builders to create their favorite Minecraft worlds, complete with skeletons, “mooshrooms,” lots of TNT, and other must-have Minecraft elements.
The Rebel U-Wing is a Star Wars fighter favorite, but made buildable with LEGOs. There are well-over 600 bricks, each with a place in the U-Wing. Includes mini figures—Bistan, Cassian Andor, a Rebel Trooper, a U-Wing Pilot, and Jyn Erso—and their weapons. This setup requires patience to build.
Another awesome advent calendar, but LEGO City themed. This set includes the usual 24 compartments of 24 presents for 24 days, but moreso holiday themed. For instance, kiddos might reveal a Santa Claus figure, a Christmas tree, and a wreath. Lots-a fun and excitement-building before the actual day of Christmas.
Yay for Star Wars! Here at #5 of the top picks in boys’ favorite LEGO sets this year is the Star Wars AT-ST Walker.
Can you tell that Star Wars is a big deal this year? There are lots-a awesome Star Wars LEGO sets for the holiday season. And the AT-ST Walker ranks up there as one of the most popular. This towering giant is build-able with hinged joints, so he actually walks and roams (when kiddos move him). Includes Baze Malbus and weapons.
The Minecraft Fortress is a buildable hideout for Steve and his golden weaponry. Of course, there are a few skeletons in the closets, and maybe a Creeper here and there. Includes almost 1000 bricks and elements that kids can rearrange to create their own version of the original Minecraft Fortress.
The Creative Brick Box, my favorite ever from LEGO, encourages imagination and creativity, big time. Instead of themes, kids simply get a big box of colorful LEGOs and a few elements, like wheel rims, green baseplates, tires, and googly eyes. The objective is to imagine, inspire, and create absolutely anything.
Also managing a place among the best LEGO sets for boys this year is another from the “City” lineup – Police Station.
The LEGO City Police Station is under siege. Several crooks are planning a heist and a breakout of fellow crooks. This two-story police station comes with a helipad, prison cells, surveillance cameras, and of course, several policemen and women. Also includes a well-trained police dog and a few not-so-smart crooks.
Most kids I’ve met have never been on an airplane, but they find the idea of an airplane terminal fascinating. It might sound odd to adults, but it can be magical for kiddos. This buildable Airport Passenger Terminal comes with an airplane and lots-a mini figures, like a pilot, airport workers, and a few passengers. Lovin’ the real-working conveyor belt.
One more from the LEGO Star Wars collection. The Rebel Combat Frigate setup has over 950 building bricks, all with a place on the main fighter. It takes some time and patience to completely build this one. But totally worth it. Mini figures include Agent Kallus and Chopper Astromech Droid.
