Gobble: The Famous Thanksgiving Turkey is a fun storybook app that tells the tale through music and singing. The auto play option allows children to easily enjoy the story without having to turn the pages etc. The read to myself and read to me options require children turn the page with a simple swipe of their finger which is very easy to do. Moving through the additional activities is easy to do as well. Simple tap and touch functioning makes it easy for children of all ages.
Education
In addition to the pilgrim story itself, children are able to practice their reading skills by following along with the text highlighting and narrator. The puzzle activity allows children to use their problem solving skills as they piece each picture back together and work on their memory with the matching activity.
Entertainment
The music and story is enough to keep little minds engaged in this app but the developers have included a few extras to add a bit more entertainment. In addition to the story there is a puzzle activity and a matching game that both have 2 levels of difficulty for children to explore. These additional activities definitely increase the entertainment value and keep children coming back for more.

Priced at just under five dollars, this app is a pretty good deal. The story has all the extras that make it easy to use along with a few extra activities that children will love which is great. Two levels of difficulty for the activities also helps to make the app more versatile for children of all ages. This is a cute holiday app that won’t break the bank.
Child Friendliness
The developers have done a lovely job of making the app easy to use. The text highlighting and narration options are wonderful for young children to follow along with the story. The interface includes simple swipe functioning which is easy for children of all ages as well. In addition to all that the app is safe to use. The main page shows the various activities as well as a ‘credits’ page with a well-hidden button that reads “Enjoyed it?” for parents to use to rate the app. This button is protected and very well placed so children aren’t likely to get into this area on their own.
One thing that might bother some parents and is worth mentioning is in the story itself. At two points in the story the narrator is surprised and exclaims “Oh my God!”. It is part of the story however it could be offensive to some readers and families. Other than that, the rest of the story is very well done and great for children of all ages.
