Quality

There is no doubt the quality of the illustrations and images used in this app are superb. The developers have also done a nice job with creating an app that is not only visually appealing, but also has music, sound effects, and professional narration throughout. The user interface is easy to use with arrows at the bottom of each page to move forward. Overall, this app is very well done.

In addition to the wonderful friendship theme of the story that teaches children a valuable lesson about making friends and being honest, this app also allows children to add to their vocabulary using sight words. Throughout the story there are more challenging words that are highlighted in the story. Readers can tap the word to hear it read aloud to help them with their reading skills. The story is also includes text highlighting for children to follow along.

One of the additional activities includes an album of images and words that also help children learn and practice their reading skills. Words like hole, picnic, potion, and punch are used to help children expand their vocabulary and reading skills.

Child Friendliness

The developers have done a nice job creating a storybook app that is easy to move through without a ton of instruction. With arrows at the bottom of each page, readers can easily move through the story. The animated illustrations can be a bit confusing depending on how many characters are involved. Each character is highlighted if they are meant to come to life. In some scenes it can be confusing as to which character speaks first and when to turn the page. Creating a one tap function so the page comes to life in the correct order might make things a bit easier for young children.
