Overview
Reading Train Endless Books, Songs & Games – School Readers edition is a great app for children who are learning to read. With Reading Train Endless Books, Songs & Games – School Readers, children can enjoy a growing library of 200+ engaging picture books that they can read and record, all by themselves! This particular version is perfect for use in the classroom, too! The app was created by Libby Curran, a People Magazine Teacher of the Year. I thought the app had a great concept and would be perfect for early readers.
I wanted to mention that this app is currently 50% off as part of the Get Ready For Summer Sale, and is just $9.99. When you buy the app you will pay just once and receive all the books, plus regular updates with brand new books at no additional cost. I thought that the price was fair, considering there are 200+ books in the library catalogue.
The app provides children with the ability to listen, read and record books at 3 different beginning reading levels. I love how kids can progress through the app at their own pace, which really is best when it comes to a skill such as reading. The app includes professional narration, and all books can be recorded by users as well. I think that listening to themselves read is a great way for kids to learn.
In addition to reading the books, kids can also play the train game after each book. I love how the train game is really just a quiz in the form of a game, clever! The app includes a 450+ word integrated dictionary for kids to reference as well. If you have a child who does well learning to the rhythm of music (I know I do!), there are 18 sing-along song books included in the library catalogue.
As I mentioned, this particular school version of the app is perfect for use in the classroom. There are unlimited user accounts and individual bookshelves. Teachers and parents can also use the powerful reporting tools to see how each student/child is doing.
I really enjoyed the Reading Train Endless Books, Songs & Games app. I would definitely recommend this app to teachers who are looking for a fun reading app for the classroom, or parents who homeschool. I think that this app is a great find for anyone with a young child who is learning to read!
