DIY Ladybug And Bee Backyard Tic Tac Toe Board

Turn the old tree stump in your yard into a fun play area for the kids. Use the following instructions to create a fun and fantastic Tic Tac Toe board your younglings will enjoy all spring and summer long.

What You Need

  • Flat stones of about the same size
  • Red, black, and yellow paint
  • Sand paper

Instructions

Find or purchase flat stones of the same size. These will be your Tic Tac Toe playing pieces. Using pictures if necessary, paint the stones as ladybugs and bumblebees. Don’t worry if you aren’t much of an artist or the bugs are a little “abstract.” Make sure you have an equal number of ladybugs and bumblebees before you continue. Use weather-resistant paint for best results, and put the game pieces in the sun so they dry faster.

Sand the surface of the stump with sandpaper if necessary to create an even playing surface. Consider having a friend “take a little off the top” of the chainsaw if you feel the playing board is too uneven. Paint the game board on the stump and allow it to dry.

Show your masterpiece to your children when everything is dry and ready. They will love having an outdoor game board to play with! Encourage them to play the game whenever the weather is temperate to instill a love of stimulating play as well as a love of the outdoors.

If you have multiple tree stumps in your yard, consider using them to make other game boards, such as chess and checkerboards. This is a great way to turn eyesores into fun activity spots for kids. It also teaches your little ones how to repurpose objects and turn them into something amazing.
