This ebook is one of the most delightful books for young kids available on the iPhone / iPad / iPod as an app. One Rainy Day is a cute little story about a duck who loves the rain. The book is simple and gentle – and I would recommend it for babies old enough to engage in any book – digital or not.
In addition to the story, there is a simple game and coloring page feature. The game helps learn colors and echoes the storyline so helps with reading comprehension. The coloring pages are great because not only do they include scenes from the book, but use the paint bucket method of filling areas on the page. This is very nice for the younger kids who might not have the manual dexterity of older children to finger paint. (due to screen size, the coloring page is only available on the iPad)
Reading ebooks like this on the iPad with my children, feels like the wave of the future while still having that warm and fuzzy family feel that has passed down through the generations – and that’s a wonderful combination.
