This app pairs smashingly with the popular cartoon feature. If your little one loved the movie, this app is a must-have. If, like me, you thought the movie was great, you won’t be disappointed with this deluxe storybook, either!

In-app features include:

  • Read-to-me eBook
  • Optional voice recording
  • Read-to-myself eBook
  • Interactive storybook pages
  • Video clips from the animated film
  • Create-a-kart baker
  • Kart racing game with a variety of levels and difficulties

The Wreck-It Ralph Storybook Deluxe app was created by Disney, so the animation, graphics, extras and storytelling are all top notch. Oh, and it’s truly universal, a big plus around these parts, especially when mommy needs her iPhone!

Not only is the story engaging and interesting, the film clips, interactive on-screen images and navigation are all entirely endearing. Again, this app is designed for kids, but it’s also a great reminder that you’re never too old for a good story.

The kart racing game is on-par with what you would find in a standalone racing app. As long as you don’t mind tilt controls then you’ll love it, no matter what your age. However, the racing game also has an easy setting, making it age appropriate for little ones as well.

Thanks to the read-along option, this app is also learning-friendly. Your little ones won’t have any trouble following the story, and the words that appear on-screen are clear and easy to read.

Otherwise, there aren’t a whole lot of educational opportunities in the Wreck-It Ralph Storybook Deluxe app. But, honestly, I didn’t miss them, and neither did the kids. This app is so much fun!

At its core, the Wreck-It Ralph Storybook Deluxe iPhone app is good old fashioned fun. The story is appropriate for all ages. The in-story extras are addictive and engaging. And the kart racing game is just the icing on the cake, reminiscent of an early version of Mario Kart, only with more sugary graphics.

If you’re looking for an app that can enthrall your entire brood, look no further.

Considering all the extras, and the high quality of this app, I wasn’t too surprised to see it priced at $6.99. Do I wish it was a bit more cost effective? Yup, I do.

However, due to the aforementioned stellar quality, story and extras, I do think it’s worth a little extra scratch to add this app to your family’s library. The game alone will extend the app’s shelf life far into the future.

As a Disney app, I expect a lot in the kid-friendly department from the Wreck-It Ralph Storybook Deluxe iPhone app. And I wasn’t disappointed.

In the game and in the book, there aren’t any outside links or tempting buttons to lead your child astray. There is an “Info” section accessible from the app’s first page that touts other Disney apps, invites you to sign up for Disney Books offer emails and includes a “Gift This App” button. However, all of these options require confirmation before they work, which is handy.

Considering how entertaining the story and games are, I doubt kids will go astray into this more adult-oriented info tab. Mine didn’t even notice it.
