Goodnight Safari is a simple yet engaging story that is perfect for bedtime routines. Throughout the story, readers help different safari animals with various bedtime tasks. They can help Giraffe reach her dinner, Rhino take a bath, or Elephant with a goodnight kiss. At the end of the story, readers make the sun go down and the animals snore as they rest on the savannah. The illustrations enhance the feel of the story – they are detailed and colorful without being too overpowering or over stimulating.
Goodnight Safari includes both the Read to Me or Read Alone features, as well as the option to mute background noise. The Read to Me feature promotes word recognition by highlighting the words as they are spoken aloud. Background noises are simple and soothing – relaxing the child before bedtime – and can be turned off for both the Read to Me and Read Alone features. After a period of inactivity, a blue dot will appear on the animal that needs help with a bedtime task.
While readers are able to help the animals with their bedtime tasks, additional interactive features are minimal. The seven pages of the story each contain two or three additional interactive features such as rustling the tree leaves, splashing the water, or making the animals snore.
This app contains an instruction page for parents which summarizes how the interactive features of the app work. There are no social media links or in-app purchase links anywhere in this app.
