These free matching games for the iphone / ipad are great for kids and for some adults too. I chose these iphone / ipad apps because not only they were free apps, but fun apps to play too.

Most of the matching games in the App Store feature animals and the best ones all did so that is all 3 feature animals. I would love to see free matching games that feature other items too while still being child friendly and fun. Since these are free apps, the apps either have ads or “upgrade to full version” buttons. Unfortuantely the “upgrade” buttons makes it quite easy for kids to download the paid version, luckily the paid versions are not expensive and probably worth the upgrade if you have enjoyed playing the game.

Brain Counts Free / Lite Matching Game for Kids — One of the best free matching iPhone / iPad games is Animal Match from Brain Counts. This free app lets you play with up to 4 people and match up to 4 of a kind rather than just pairs.

Match Animals free / lite iphone ipad app — This fantastic matching app features real animal photos and sounds. The app also shows the name of the animal, which is great for kids learning to read and spell. There are a couple of different levels to make it easy for even the youngest child.

Giraffes Matchin Zoo free / lite iPhone / iPad app — A personal favorite because the sounds are so odd and cute - plus it's the matching game that my youngest was first taken to. Very cute graphics.
