StudyAce App Review
StudyAce offers a wide array of pre-designed tools to help students master concepts at any grade or level, and it allows parents and teachers options to create and share their own content, as well.
- Flashcards, Games, and Quizzing
- Create original content
- Modify existing content with subscription
- Include reference videos and links
- Share content with others
StudyAce is a very high-quality app that offers a wealth of opportunities to practice nearly any kind of concepts or academic material. It includes a wide variety of engaging games, a system to add unique content, and access to content created by others. The premium version also includes record-keeping options, the ability to create and join groups, and more. The system does require internet access to function. One minor concern is that, while content can be read aloud, the voice is very robotic and a little bit difficult to understand.
StudyAce gamifies study skills in a very positive and engaging manner. The arcade-style games give points for correct responses, have “lives” that are lost if incorrect answers are given, and instant feedback on responses. The visual and colorful nature of the practice activities are strong positive features for visual learners.
The app offers all of the features of most study apps, such as flashcards, quizzing, and progress reports (premium version), but also provides practice with the games. Teachers and parents will love the capability of entering their own content for students and easily creating similar games. With the premium version, users can alter content entered by others, tweaking it to make it perfect for every situation.
It’s hard to separate out the value of motivation in studying. If students are engaged with the content, they will remember it much more completely. This app does a great job of keeping things engaging. Standard flashcard drill is a pretty efficient way of mastering content, but it’s pretty boring. It’s also easy to “fool yourself” by simply flipping cards and reading the answers instead of flexing the mental muscle to attempt recall before peeking. The games put an end to that-students must engage with the content in order to successfully play them. Great job!
This app is free to try, and offers a lot of content in its free form. Users can view and choose any of hundreds of content sections already created by other users, complete with flashcards and one game. Some even have some resource videos and links that can be accessed at this level. New content can also be created specifically for a student or a class. The premium subscription ($4.99 per month or $19.99 annually) increases the app’s power by allowing users to edit content, to create and join groups, to play all games, to upload images, and more. Considering that the content can be adjusted and modified for a huge range of ages and abilities, the app is a fantastic value, both in its free form and its premium form.
The app does include in-app purchases, links to outside websites, and connections to social media that are not protected. These concerns mean that parents and teachers with younger children should supervise its use carefully.
